calculating silver value of 90%

Alright, who's good at math? In order for 90% silver to trade at exactly 8X face value what would the current spot price of silver need to be? Please show math so that I may become familiar with the equation!

Re: calculating silver value of 90%

In each $1.00 of face value 90% silver coins there is approximately .7215 ounces of silver.

So you want to pay 8x face

8/.7215 = $11.088 price of silver

Don't forget that "industry standard" $1000 face value bags trade as 715 ounces of silver, or .715 x spot per $1 face value.

Re: calculating silver value of 90%

Does anyone know the current buy/sell prices on silver dollars? These would be common dates, and VG to fine condition. Basically bullion value. I emailed Tulving, and he said they do NOT buy or sell generic silver dollars. Bullion value right now is about $10.00 per coin. Not sure if there is any kind of premium, or not. TIA.

There is a fair amount of premium over spot for 90% dollar coins of Morgans, and Peace's. If you can get them at spot....excellent!

To get much nearer to spot or less you probably have to go to halves, quarters and dimes.

I personally haven't seen old silver dollars at spot, but I have heard of some at coin shows. The cheapest I've seen is $12 per. If I could get them at spot (about $10), I'd probably buy a few at least.
